Jimmy Savile Cottage To Be Auctioned

A cottage owned by former DJ Jimmy Savile is due to be sold at auction later.

The three-bedroom property in Glencoe was put on the market by trustees of the late BBC presenter's estate for £100k.

The property, named Allt Na Reigh, was purchased by Savile in 1998 but it has been the target of vandals following his death after numerous allegations of sexual offences committed by the presenter were reported.

The cottage will be sold at Ross Harper Property Auctions in Glasgow.

Opinion has been divided over the property, with many suggesting it should be demolished. Mountaineers feel it should be transformed into a museum dedicated to their sport – the cottage is also the previous homes of renowned Scottish mountaineer Hamish MacInnes.

In March, detectives revealed 450 claims of alleged abuse had been made against the former Top Of The Pops presenter since Operation Yewtree was launched by Metropolitan Police last October.
