US Expansion For Motherwell Aerospace Firm
MB Aerospace has announced its acquisition of US-based aero-engine component manufacturing business Delta Industries.
It is thought to be a multi-million pound deal, but the Motherwell-based firm did not disclose the cost.
Delta, which is based in Connecticut, reported annual sales of more than $60m (£39.5m) last year.
The new deal will see MB Aerospace's projected annual revenue increase to more than £100m as well as increase staff from 370 to 550. The announcement comes just months after US private equity firm Arlington Capital Partners bought a majority stake in MB Aerospace.
MB Aerospace Chief Executive Craig Gallagher said: "With its wide range of capabilities, long-standing customer relationships and its strong management team, the Delta business has been a long-term target for MB Aerospace. It is a perfect fit with our ambitions for future growth.
"Today's announcement adds significant technical capabilities to the group, especially in relation to large-diameter fabrications and robotic welding of complex high-value aero engines components.
"In addition to its high levels of capability, Delta has an industry-leading reputation for its ability to manufacture challenging system-critical components."

£30m Funding Announced For 3D Printing Centre
Funding of £30 million has been pledged to develop 3D printing and aerospace technology, chancellor George Osborne has announced. Promising to "unashamedly" back British manufacturing, it is understood that the money will be used to create a national centre for 3D printing at Manufacturing Technology Centre in Ansty Park in Coventry.

The parents of a seriously disabled baby have won their court battle to prevent doctors from withdrawing life-prolonging treatment from the child. At the High Court today, Mr Justice Holman said that he did not believe that it was in the boy's best interests to withdraw treatment.

Cash injection into aerospace research announced
A new boost for research in the aerospace industry has been announced today by Industry Minister Alan Johnson. Almost £1.5 million will help develop new technologies and processes to reduce waste during the manufacture of aerospace components. The project will be run by Finite Element Analysis in conjunction with other supply chain companies.
