Family Guilty Of Attack On 16-Year-Old
A family that attacked a 16-year-old boy who they believed had thrown stones at their home has been found guilty at Wolverhampton Crown Court.
Gareth Attwood, 21, and Andrew Attwood, 46, from Fens Crescent, along with 23-year-old Aaron Attwood of Westwood Street, Brierley Hill, were found guilty following a seven day trial.
The jury heard how on 15 July last year, the three men attacked the boy and his 19-year-old friend at Fenns Pool Nature Reserve, Pensnett.
The two victims had fled to the reserve at around 15:15, after having been chased there by the Attwood men.
The 16-year-old boy was left unconscious, having been held down and hit with bricks, sticks and a baseball bat.
His jaw and a finger were broken and a tooth was knocked out. His back and arm were also severely bruised. His friend sustained non-serious injuries to his legs.
Detective Constable John Horrobin investigated the crime. He said: "While the Attwood men tried to initially deny any involvement in the attack, the jury were presented with an overwhelming body of evidence compiled by police.
"Thanks to the bravery of the two teenagers and other witnesses, Gareth and Aaron Attwood, along with their father Andrew, were identified as the attackers.
"I hope the fact that all three have been found guilty will give the victim’s some sense of justice and help them move on from their frightening ordeal."
The three men will be sentenced at Wolverhampton Crown Court this month.
