Warning Over Heat Issues In Green Deal Homes

Some homes insulated under the government's Green Deal scheme are at risk of reaching dangerously high temperatures, experts have warned.

It is claimed that the danger comes from heat building up during the day, which then has nowhere to escape at night, causing a reduction in air quality and increasing the risk of heat stress for residents.

It is understood that in extreme cases heat stress can prove fatal and that homes in densely populated areas like London are most at risk.

The government has said that they are aware of the potential risks posed by insulation used to make homes airtight during winter, and are taking steps to prevent overheating in Green Deal properties.
