Female French Student Killed On 'Boris Bike'

A 20-year-old female French student has died after the 'Boris Bike' she was riding was involved in a collision with a lorry.

The incident happened in east London on Friday evening.

The victim has not yet been named as authorities have not yet been able to inform her next of kin. She is the first person to be killed while using one of London's free bicycles.

The accident occurred on Cycle Superhighway 2, by Aldgate East underground station on Whitechapel High Street.

It is understood that the lorry driver stopped at the scene and no arrests were made.

Two other cyclists where killed in collisions with lorries in 2011 on the same route.

An inquest into the student's death is to take place this week.

Female Cyclist Killed Following Collision With Lorry
A female cyclist has become the fourth person to die while riding a bike in the capitol in the last eight days. According to reports the woman, understood to be aged in her mid-20s, collided with a lorry at around 08:45 at Bow Roundabout. The woman, has not be identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Man Killed Killed By Lorry On M5
Avon and Somerset Police have reported the death of a man on the M5 near Taunton. It is understood the man, aged in his late 50s, was driving a lorry which had hit the central reservation on the northbound carriageway near Taunton Deane services. The man is said that have gotten out of the cab of his lorry and was hit by another passing lorry.

Lorry Driver Arrested Over M26 Pile-Up
A 45-year-old lorry driver has been arrested in connection with a road accident that killed two people and left seven others injured. A 22-year-old woman and 16-year-old girl died in the five-vehicle pile up on the M26 near Kemsing which happened around 09:40 on Wednesday morning.
