61-Year-Old Arrested On Suspicion Of Child Sex Abuse

A 61-year-old man is the fourth to be arrested by detectives investigating allegations of child abuse at north Wales care homes.

Operation Pallial was ordered by David Cameron last year following a series of claims of child sexual abuse at a number of institutions.

The 61-year-old was arrested in Cheshire this morning (Wednesday) on suspicion of sexually assaulting a teenage boy between 1982 and 1985.

Police say the victim was aged between 12 and 15 at the time of the alleged attacks.

More than 140 people have come forward to police claiming they were sexually abused at 18 different children's homes across Wales.

Some 85 people have been identified as suspected perpetrators of the attacks on victims aged from seven to nineteen between the years of 1963 and 1992.

The investigation is ongoing.
