Rare Signal Boxes Given Listed Status

The Department for Culture, Media and Sport have granted Grade II listed status to twenty-six rare signal boxes across England.

The joint venture, between English Heritage and Network Rail, is part of a 30-year plan to modernise the railways.

A number of mechanical boxes are being replaced by regional operating centres.

Tim Westwood To Leave BBC

DJ Tim Westwood is leaving BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra as part of a schedule update.

His Saturday night show, which is currently broadcast simultaneously on Radio 1 and 1Xtra at 9pm, is being cut.

The new line-up will start with MistaJam at 7pm, followed by Charlie Sloth at 9pm and DJ Target at 11pm.

Bansky Mural Take From Wall

A mural by Banksy has been cut from a wall in Tottenham, north London.

The Sincura Group, who previously sold another Banksy taken from a wall, said it had not been appreciated in situ and was to be sold.

It is claimed that the 'No Ball Games" piece, will be restored before being sold next year with profits going to charity.

DJ Died Of 'Misadventure', Inquest Finds
An inquest has heard that former DJ Kevin Greening died from a drugs overdose after participating in a gay bondage session. Coroner Paul Knapman said Mr Greening died of "misadventure" after being found dead by police on December 29, 2006, at a flat in Wandsworth, south London. His 45th birthday was the following day.

DJ Alan Freeman dies aged 79
Veteran radio presenter and DJ Alan 'Fluff' Freeman has died peacefully after a brief illness aged 79. Freeman, , who had been living in a nursing home since he was diagnosed with arthritis in 2000, had amassed a radio following as one of his generation's leading DJ talents with catchphrases that included "not 'arf" and "greetings, pop pickers".
