Pair Charged Over Beheaded Sheep

A man and a woman has been charged following the discovery on Monday or beheaded sheep at a farm in County Durham.

Police say that on Monday the body of a sheep was found in a farmers field and its head was found in a rear yard.

It is understood that an examination of the animal by a vet suggested that the sheep had been mutilated before it died.

The 28-year-old man and 39-year-old woman will appear before Peterlee Magistrates' Court charged with unnecessary cruelty to an animal, along with charges of child neglect, possession of a bladed article and criminal

BSE in sheep contingency plan published
A consultation document on the UK's contingency plan for BSE in sheep has been published today. Launching the plan today, Defra and the other UK Agriculture and Rural Affairs Departments said that, while BSE has not been found naturally occurring in sheep, there was a "theoretical risk" that BSE could be present in sheep, masked as scrapie.

Baby Death Mother Named
The British woman charged with causing the death of her newborn baby in a hotel room in Crete has been named. Leah Andrew, from London, has been charged with infantide after being arrested in Malia on Tuesday. Ms Andrew was rushed to hospital by local residents after giving birth alone in her room.

23 Charged With Drug Offences Following Raids
More than 20 people have been charged with drug offences following a number of raids carried out in London, Gravesend, Dover and Deal. A total of 23 people were arrested during twenty raids carried out over three days. The suspects, ranging in age from 17 to 52, have all been charged in connection with the supply of class A drugs.

Disabled Woman Found Dead In Car
A disabled woman found stabbed to death in her car near her home in Harlow, Essex, has been named. Jennifer Macaree was discovered in Hadley Grange on the outskirts of Harlow early on Saturday. Essex Police confirmed she was in the driver's seat of her black Vauxhall Corsa in a parking area near her flat shortly after 3am.

Mobile Customers To Share £1m Refund
Mobile provide EE is to refund around £1m to a number of customers wrongly charged VAT between October 2012 and October 2014. It is understood that EE customers who travelled outside the EU during those dates and used internet data were affected by the charges. The company estimated it as being about 0.5% of its customers.
