Nando's 'Medical Centre' Application Criticised
Leeds' Councillor, Martin Hamilton, has criticised a proposal by the Nando's restaurant chain to build a new premises in the same building as the Headingley Medical Centre.
The restaurant have made an application to open a branch at St Micheal's Court in Headlingley, however Hamilton, a ward Councillor, said the plan left a "bitter taste in the mouth".
Nando's had previously submitted an application for the same site in 2011, but withdrew it within four weeks after it received more than 40 objections.
Rare Giraffe Calf Dies At Devon Zoo
Paignton Zoo in Devon has announced that a rare Rothschild's giraffe calf has died at just eight-days-old.
Keepers at the zoo found the giraffe calf earlier today, saying they were "shocked and saddened" at the discovery.
One of the world's most endangered subspecies, there are only a few hundred Rothschild's left in the wild.
A post-mortem examination will be carried out to find out why the giraffe died.
Case Of Legionnaires' Disease Confirmed In Plymouth
Derriford Hospital in Plymouth have confirmed a case of Legionnaires' disease.
It is not known how the patient contracted the disease.
The potentially fatal lung infection is caught by breathing in droplets of water contaminated by legionella bacteria. It is not contagious and cannot be spread from person to person.
Public Health England (PHE) and Plymouth City Council are investigating the source of the infection.

Police Search Flat After Restaurant Blast
Police are searching a flat in connection with an explosion at an Exeter shopping mall yesterday. A 22-year-old man, named as Nicky Reilly was detained at Devon and Cornwall Police station after a device detonated at the Giraffe restaurant. The incident happened at around 1pm yesterday when a man walked into the family eatery.

Tesco Buy Family Restaurant Chain For £48.6m
Tesco has spent £48.6m to buy child friendly restaurant Giraffe. It is understood the supermarket giant now intends to open Giraffe branches near to Tesco stores in an attempt to create "retail destinations" for customers. Tesco pointed to Giraffe's popularity with a wide range of ages, particularly families, as part of its appeal.

More Help To Fight Heart Disease And Stroke
A new tool to help the NHS better treat cardiovascular disease in every area of the country was launched by the Department of Health today. The online tool, compiled by the South East Public Health Observatory, allows for comparisons across the country in a bid to drive up standards and better target resources.
