Nottinghamshire police involved in armed seige

Police negotiators and armed response units are involved in a tense standoff with a man holed up inside a house in Nottinghamshire.

Officers from Nottinghamshire Police attended the armed siege in Marple Square, St Anns, in Nottingham last night at around 6.45pm.

It is believed that two men were initially involved, but in the early hours of the morning a man left the house voluntarily. There is still one man inside. There have been no shots fired and talks are continuing.

Woodborough Road is sealed off to traffic, business and local people and sections of the road will remain closed until the siege ends.

Police report that there are no major traffic problems at present but police are advising people to find alternative routes.

Man in custody as 40-hour armed siege ends
An armed siege in Nottingham, which had been going on for 40 hours, has ended today after a man gave himself up to police. At around 2.30pm today the man, who had a handgun, surrendered himself to officers and he has been taken into police custody.

Investigation continues as armed officers shoot man dead
Investigations were continuing today following the killing of a 23-year old man by armed officers from the Metropolitan Police in the Thornton Heath area of south London. According to police, a handgun was recovered at the scene of the shooting, which took place at around 11.25am on Wednesday in Raymead Passage, London Road in Thornton Heath.

British Man Dies In Dubai Police Custody
A British man has died in police custody in Dubai. Lee Bradley Brown, 39, from east London, died on Tuesday after he was taken to a Dubai police station where he was allegedly assaulted and put into a cell. It has been reported that Mr Brown, was arrested over a row at the luxury hotel Burj Al Arab hotel.

Man Arrested Over Kent Doctor's Murder
A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a doctor in Kent. Consultant paediatrician Dr Victoria Anyetei, 54, was found in her car in the driveway of her home in Dartford on August 14. She had been stabbed to death. Kent Police said that the man was arrested on suspicion of murder at an address in Dartford.
