Investigation Launched After Four Die In Derbyshire House Fire

Four people have been killed in a house fire in north Derbyshire, police have confirmed.

According to reports two adults and two children died after a fire broke out at around 05:00 at a house in Williamthorpe Road, North Wingfield, near Chesterfield.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway and Derbyshire Police have said that Williamthorpe Road will remain closed for several hours today.

Heroic Tyne Firemen Honoured
Two Tyne and Wear firefighters are to be recognised for their bravery at a special ceremony today. Andrew Nelson and Allan Richardson will be presented with the Chief Fire Officer's Commendations for brave and meritorious conduct after saving a man's life. The men took part in a dramatic rescue in the early hours of 4 February.

More than 1,000 firefighters across Merseyside have begun a four-day strike in protest over planned job cuts. Another four-day stoppage is scheduled to begin two hours after the first one ends.

Police Say Derby House Fire Was Started Deliberately
Derbyshire police believe the house fire that killed 6 children was started deliberately. Five children aged between five and 10 died in the early hours of Friday after the blaze at a property on Victory Road in the Allenton area, while a sixth child died in hospital overnight on Sunday.

Suspicious Glasgow Car Fires
Detectives in Glasgow's East End are investigating a spate of vehicle fire attacks in the city yesterday. Shortly after 3.30am police were called to a report of a vehicle fire in Ashvale Crescent, Glasgow. Upon arrival police were advised by Strathclyde Fire Service that four vehicles had been damaged by fire.

Man Remanded In Custody Over Fire Death Of Six Children
A man has appeared in court charged with murdering six siblings in a fire that ripped through their home as they slept. 45-year-old Paul Barry Mosley appeared at Derby magistrates court on Tuesday charged with the murders of Jade Philpott, 10, and her brothers John, nine, Jack, eight, Jesse, six, Jayden, five, and 13-year-old Duwayne.
