Two Britons Bailed In Russian, Four More Awaiting Verdict

Two British Greenpeace activists arrested by Russian authorities on charges of hooliganism have been granted bail.

Alex Harris and Kieron Bryan were granted bail alongside the ships captain, Peter Wilcox, 10 other foreign nationals and three Russians.

A third British man, Anthony Perrett, is understood to be awaiting a bail decision and a further three Britons will have bail hearings later this week.

The crew of the Greenpeace vessel Arctic Sunrise were arrested and charged after taking part in a protest at an Arctic offshore oil rig operated by the Russian company Gazprom.

Brown's Stance Praised By Litvinenko Widow
The widow of former Russian spy Alexander Litvinenko has commended Prime Minister Gordon Brown for "standing firm" on his demand for the extradition of the main suspect in the assassination of the defector. Marina Litvinenko welcomed Mr Brown's continued "firm" calls for the extradition of Andrei Lugovoi, two years after Mr Litvinenko's poisoning.

Tarrant arrested following alleged 'assault'
TV celebrity Chris Tarrant has been arrested following an alleged assault in an Indian restaurant in Nottingham. The questionmaster of 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire' was questioned after a man called police claiming he had been injured in an attack at a Nottingham curry house.

Woman in ‘babies in attic’ find bailed
A 64-year-old former nurse was granted bail in court today over charges in connection with concealing the birth of a baby, after a body was discovered in the attic of a home in Wales. Ann Mahoney, from the Gurnos estate in Merthyr Tydfil, was arrested earlier this week, in connection with the discovery.

Russia has criticised Britain's decision to expel four Russian diplomats in the row over the extradition of the main suspect in the Alexander Litvinenko murder, saying it was politically motivated.

Former Russian President Boris Yeltsin dies
Former Russian President Boris Yeltsin has died at the age of 76. The cause of death has not yet been released, although some reports have suggested that he suffered heart failure. Mr Yeltsin was known to have a history of heart trouble. Mr Yeltsin is known for helping lead Russia into democracy and a market economy.
