Renewed Appeal For Missing Teenager
The family of missing teenager Nida Ul-Naseer have made a fresh appeal for her to return home.
Nida, 18, disappeared from her home 11 days ago with no possessions after she took out the bins at her home.
Her disappearance has been described as "particularly out of character".
Speaking at a press conference, her sister Shamyla pleaded for Nida to return home as the family "could not live without her".
Just before she disappeared, it is understood the teenager was "angry and upset" that she could not go to university as the family are appealing against a failed asylum bid.
Last week, another sister, Naila Anwar, appealed for Ms Ul-Naseer to get in touch. She said Nida, who was a sixth-form student from Pill, Newport, could not live without her mobile phone and was always calling or texting.
She added that her sister was shy and "shared everything" with the family.
When she was last seen, Nida was wearing blue jeans and a black top. She is 5ft 3in, of Asian-Pakistani appearance and has long dark hair. Nida also needs medication for a condition which could leave her anaemic if not treated.
Despite extensive enquiries including house to house, leaflet drops, cctv enquiries and local searches everyday since her disappearance she has not been located. A team of about 40 officers continue to work on the investigation.
Assistant Chief Constable Paul Symes said: "We know that Nida went out that Saturday evening [28 December] at about 8pm to take the bins out without her purse or telephone and didn't return.
"We believe that she had a verbal disagreement within the home which possibly could have upset her and led to her leaving. There is nothing to account for her disappearance.
"Whilst we are pursuing a number of lines of enquiry, there is no information at this stage to suggest that she was picked up in a vehicle at all.
"To go missing is particularly out of character for Nida and that, as well as her medical condition, makes me very concerned for her welfare."
Gwent Police have asked anyone with information to contact 101 quoting log number 448 28/12/13.
