Scottish Govt Commit £4m To Paid Training Scheme

Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond has announced that government funding of £4m will be used to create around 1,200 jobs and training placements.

The First Minister made the announcement at the opening of the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) conference in Glasgow.

The funding will be used to offer unemployed people six-month paid placements with charities and voluntary organisations through the work of the Community Jobs Scotland programme.

Participants in the scheme will be guaranteed at least minimum wage while receiving training aimed at helping them find full-time work, according to the SCVO.
