Almost 200,000 More People Now In Work

The latest employment figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) show that the number of people in work rose by 193,000 to 30.15 million in the three months to December.

The number of people unemployed fell to 2.34 million, a drop of 125,000, for the same period.

The unemployment rate now stands at 7.2% with the employment rate at 72.1%, a 0.6% rise for the same time in 2012.

ONS Figures Show UK Unemployment Now At 2.56m
New figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) show that unemployment reached 2.56 million in February, rising some 70,000 since December. The overall unemployment rate for the quarter was 7.9%. The figures also show that the number of Jobseeker’s Allowance claimants fell to 1.53 million, dropping by 7,000 last month.

Unemployment Rises By 28,000
According to figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) UK unemployment rose by 28,000 to 2.67 million during the three months to January. The unemployment rate for January was 8.4%, up from 8.3%. Between 16-24 year olds unemployment rose by 16,000 to 1.042m, a rate of 22.5%.

Unemployment Falls To 2.53 Million
The number of people out of work fell by 50,000 in the three months to August, now totalling 2.53 million, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS). With employment reaching a record high of almost 30 million the unemployment rate fell to 7.9%. The ONS also said the number of people claiming Jobseeker's Allowance fell by 4,000 to 1.

UK Unemployment Rate Falls To 7.7%
The UK's unemployment rate has fallen to 7.7% for the first time since late 2012, according to official statistics. The figures, released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS), revealed that in the three months to July, the unemployment rate fell from 7.8%, with the number of people out of work dropping by 24,000 to 2.487 million.

Unemployment rate increases by 0.1%
UK unemployment has risen again, the Office of National Statistics (ONS) has reported. According to the latest figures, the unemployment rate increased to 4.8% in the last quarter, an increase from 4.7% the previous quarter. The number of unemployed people rose to 1.43 million, an increase of 29,000.
