43-Year-Old Arrested In Connection With 1992 Murder
A 43-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a 7-year-old girl in October 1992.
Nikki Allan died more than 21 years ago having suffered 37 stab wounds. Her body was found in the then-derelict Old Exchange Building in Sunderland, not far from her home in Wear Garth.
A man has now been arrested in connection with the 7-years-old death, Northumbria Police have said.
In 1994 a neighbour of the child's family was acquitted of her murder.
An appeal and reconstruction of Nikki's last movements were broadcast by Crimewatch last September.

At about 3.25am on Sunday 4 January, police were called to Charles Street by the ambulance service after reports a man had been stabbed. When officers attended the scene, they found a large group of people gathered and a 26-year-old man with stab wounds.
