Man Arrested Following 10-Hour Siege In Nottinghamshire

A man has been arrested following an incident at a Hucknall snooker hall.

The 20-year-old suspect was detained on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear or violence. He has been taken into police custody for questioning.

Police were called to Spot On Snooker Club, in Vine Terrace, at 2.20pm on Thursday following a report of a man acting suspiciously.

Further enquiries led officers to believe he may have been in possession of a gun.

Negotiators worked throughout the afternoon and evening. The incident ended at 12.40am on Friday after armed officers entered the premises.

Two women who had been hiding in the building throughout were guided to safety by officers at around 8.40pm. They were distressed by their ordeal but uninjured.

A cordon will remain at the snooker hall while the scene is examined.
