Pupil Dies After Wall Collapses In Edinburgh School

A pupil has died after a wall collapsed on to her at a school in Edinburgh.

Emergency services were called to the scene at Liberton High School, Gilmerton Road, at around 10am this morning.

Ambulance staff treated the schoolgirl at the scene, however she was pronounced dead.

The incident is believed to have happened in a PE changing room.

The next of kin have been informed.

Pupil Remains In Custody Over Teacher Stabbing
A 15-year-old boy remains in police custody after a teacher was stabbed to death at a school in Leeds. At 11.48am on Monday, police received reports of female teacher, now named as Anne Maguire, having been stabbed a number of times at Corpus Christi Catholic College. The 61-year-old taught Spanish at the school.

£1bn Towards Free School Meals
£1bn is being unlocked to fund the Department of Education's free school meals commitment. The news, announced by deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, follows an announcement in September that every child in reception, year 1 and year 2 in state-funded schools will receive a free school lunch.
