Work Starts To Close Layby On A500

An eight day scheme to permanently close a layby on the A500 at Hanchurch, near Newcastle-Under-Lyme starts on Tuesday 27 May.

The work, which will be carried out overnight on weekdays, is due to end on 5 June and requires a full closure of the westbound carriageway each night.

Closing the layby, which is 50 metres before the M6 junction 15 roundabout, will reduce the potential for incidents caused by vehicles entering and leaving it.

The road will be closed from 8pm to 6am each night with traffic diverted northbound via the A34 Stone Road/Newcastle Road/London Road and the A519 Clayton Road southbound to rejoin the A500 at the M6 junction 15 roundabout.
