British Journalist Released From Ukraine

British journalist Graham Philips has been freed from Ukraine after being detained in Mariupol, eastern Ukraine on Tuesday.

The 35-year-old, who is working for the TV station Russia Today, tweeted his followers to say he had been released and was not being charged or deported.

Mr Phillips, who was released to the British Embassy in Kiev, thanked their work and the people who supported him.

The Ukranian Defence Ministry told the Russian station that the journalist had been detained for "filming facilities which are forbidden from being filmed".

The journalist, who works as freelance to the Russian media, explained the detention process in a series of tweets

He wrote: "Support means a lot to me, I expressed all my views to Ukrainian authorities, as stated. They disagreed with some, but I'm free and fine."

Kidnapped British journalist is released
A British freelance journalist who was kidnapped in southern Iraq last night has been released, it has emerged today. James Brandon, a 23-year-old freelancer with the Sunday Telegraph, was taken from his Basrah hotel room at gunpoint last night. Around 30 militants forced their way into his hotel at around 11pm local time (7pm GMT).

British Journalist Freed In Pakistan
A British journalist who was captured by militants in Pakistan in March has been released, it has been confirmed. Asad Qureshi was abducted in the region of North Waziristan on March 26, while working for an independent production company commissioned by Channel 4 to make a documentary on militancy in Pakistan.

British Journalist Freed By Iraqi Troops
A British journalist working for an American television network has been freed by Iraqi forces after being held captive for two months in Basra. Richard Butler, a freelance producer and photographer who was working for CBS News, was seized along with his Iraqi interpreter in February. The interpreter was released several days later.
