Explosion At Central London Sub-Station

Part of Soho in central London has been evacuated following at explosion at an electricity sub station.

London Fire Brigade said that the blast occurred at about 11:45 this morning, near the Comedy Store and TGI Fridays on Oxendon Street.

It is understood that smoke has been spotted coming from the sub-station but that there is no ongoing fire.

An area surrounding the site has been evacuated as a precaution.

Hundreds Evacuated From London Skyscraper After Fire Alert
Nearly 900 people have been evacuated from London skyscraper The Shard, the tallest in Western Europe, after smoke was discovered in the basement at 10:30. Seven fire engines and 50 firefighters were dispatched to the 1,004 ft-high building following reports of smoke at the London landmark.

London Victoria Evacuated After Fire On Train
London Victoria train station had to be evacuated at the start of the morning rush hour following a fire in the undercarriage of a Gatwick Express train. It is understood the train, which was on platform 13, was empty at the time of the fire, and Southern Rail posted on Twitter, "No-one was hurt which was good.

Homes evacuated after east London industrial estate fire
Around 500 people have been evacuated from the area surrounding a huge fire on an industrial estate in Leyton, east London. London Fire Brigade said that 50 firefighters were working to make the area safe after a blaze broke out in a single storey warehouse on Argall Avenue at around 3.40am this morning.

Man Jailed For Attempted Murder Of Pc
A south London man has been jailed for 25 years for tying to shoot a policeman. Michael Mitchell, 32, of Babington Road, Streatham, was convicted of attempting to murder Pc Shaun Callow, possession of a firearm and possession of drugs with intent to supply.

60 Children Evacuated After Chemical Spill
Sixty children and two adults were evacuated from a school on Peaks Hill in Purley as a precautionary measure following reports of a chemical leak in South London on Thursday. London Fire Brigade said that the leak was found to have occurred in a small storage unit.
