Lynda Bellingham To Stop Cancer Treatment

Lynda Bellingham has said she is to stop taking cancer treatment later this year.

The actress was diagnosed with colon cancer in July 2013, but it has since spread to her lungs and liver.

Bellingham, 66, wrote about her decision in her autobiography. The book, which is currently being serialised in the Mail on Sunday, reveals she plans to stop her treatment in November.

She added that she wants to "make one more Christmas" with her family, and believes she will die in January 2015 when she stops taking chemotherapy.

Teen, 16, Assaulted In Hastings

A 16-year-old boy has been attacked in Hastings, police have said.

The incident happened in Middle Street on Monday 22 September.

The victim is thought to have been walking from the HMV store towards Hastings Railway Station at around 5pm when he was approached by two men. The teenager was punched repeatedly. He was not injured in the attack, but the speakers he had just purchased were stolen, as was his black Armani Jeans messenger bag. The bag had two vertical white stripes on it and contained some Armani Diamonds aftershave and £30 in cash in a black Nike wallet.

The first man is described as white, aged 18 to 25, 5' 10" and of muscular build with blonde or light brown hair. He was wearing a black hooded top with a front zip, grey jogging bottoms and white trainers.

The second man is described as white, aged 18 to 25, 5' 7" and of stocky build. He was wearing a, grey jacket and grey joggers with a black hat.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Sussex Police on 101.

Appeal For Information Over Play Park Fire

Police have appealed for information following a fire at a children's play park in Leicestershire earlier this month.

The blaze destroyed a roundabout in a children's play area.

Between 2am and 3am on Wednesday 10 September, Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service were called to the park on The Crescent, Melton Mowbray.

They discovered play equipment had been set on fire, causing £7,000 worth of damage.

Woman Assaulted In Gwent

A woman has been assaulted on Central Street Ystrad Mynach, close to the junction of Church Street, Gwent Police have said.

The incident happened at around 8pm on Sunday (28 September).

The female was grabbed from behind and punched to the face by an unknown offender who then fled the scene in the direction of Central Street. The victim did not require hospital treatment but was left shaken.

The offender is said to be white, 6ft tall, of slim build, with short cropped dark hair. He is thought to be in his late 20s and was wearing dark clothing at the time of the incident.
