Romanian Girl Feared Abducted In Scotland

Police in Glasgow are continuing their search for a teenage Romanian girl, amid fears that she may have been abducted.

Irina Carpaci, 15, disappeared after leaving her home in Daisy Street in Govanhill, Glasgow, around 11am on Saturday.

Strathclyde Police said that the girl was heading to the nearby Somerfield store in Victoria Road and that her route would normally have taken her along Daisy Street, Calder Street and then onto Victoria Road. However, police said that there are a number of routes in Govanhill that she could have used.

One line of enquiry being investigated by police is that Irina may have spoken to a motorist and gotten into a car.

Irina is described as being 5ft 4ins, of slim build, with long brown hair and a fair complexion. When she was last seen, she was wearing a red ankle length skirt and a red long-sleeved top.

Detective Superintendent John Mitchell from Strathclyde Police said: "As time goes on the young girl's family is becoming increasingly concerned for her safety and well-being.

"I would urge anyone who may have been in Daisy Street, Calder Street or Victoria Road on Saturday morning and who may have seen anyone fitting Irina's description to come forward.

"I am keen to speak to anyone who may have seen her get into a vehicle or who can assist police with their enquiries to get in touch as a matter of urgency."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on: 0141 532 4957 or Crimestoppers anonymously on: 0800 555 111.
