Five arrested over elderly couple murder

Police investigating the murder of an elderly married couple in Kent have arrested five people.

On Friday morning, two adults and three juveniles were arrested on suspicion of the murders of Terence Martin, 72, and his wife Vera, 78.

They are now being questioned at a number of different police stations in Kent.

The couple's bodies were found by a relative at their home in Abbey Street, Faversham, around 8:45am on Wednesday morning.

They had last been seen on the afternoon of January 21.

Post-mortem examinations revealed that the couple died from multiple injuries in a violent attack.

Police confirmed that there were signs that a struggle had taken place and that the property had been searched.

The couple's car, a Daihatsu Sirion, was found burnt out on Monday evening, off Bysingwood Road in Faversham.

Officers have been conducting house-to-house inquiries in Abbey Street and in the town and are also studying CCTV footage.

Detective Chief Inspector Dean Barnes described the murder has "appalling" and repeated calls for information. He said: "We urgently want to talk to anyone who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously around the couple's home and we also want more information regarding the couple, who were last seen on early Saturday afternoon in Abbey Street.

"We also need to locate where their car travelled from this time until it was found burned out on Monday evening."

Couple found dead in museum
Police are investigating a suspected murder and suicide at the World Museum in Liverpool. Merseyside Police were called to the World Museum on Sunday, following reports that a man had fallen to his death from a balcony. However, police then discovered a teenage girl suffering from stab wounds. The pair were taken to hospital where both later died.

Multiple murder accused appears in court
A 34-year-old man has been appeared before Harrogate Magistrates Court this morning charged with the murders of four people in north Yorkshire. Mark Hobson has been charged with the murders of 27-year-old twins, Claire and Diane Sanderson. He is accused of killing his girlfriend Claire Sanderson on July 7, and her sister Diane on July 17.

British Couple Found Dead In India
A British couple have been found dead in India, it has been reported. According to the BBC, the couple are said to be in their 20s and were found in a hotel room in Agra, India. A post-mortem investigation is to be carried out, but police believe the pair may have died of a drugs overdose. There are no suggestions of crime.
