Post-Mortem On Alice Gross To Resume

A post-mortem examination on the body of murdered schoolgirl Alice Gross is to resume today.

The body of the 14-year-old girl was recovered from the River Brent in west London on Tuesday night.

She was last seen on 28 August after she left her home in Hanwell.

Alice's parents said: "It is difficult to comprehend that our sweet and beautiful daughter was the victim of a terrible crime.

"Why anyone would want to hurt her is something that we are struggling to come to terms with.

"Alice was a loving and much loved daughter and sister, a quirky live spark of a girl, beautiful inside and out.

"She was a funny companion, a loyal friend, both passionate and compassionate, and so talented with a bright future ahead of her.

"This is a time for grieving and not a time for anger or recriminations."

Latvian builder, Arnis Zalkalns, who was filmed on CCTV cycling along the same route as Alice is the prime suspect in the case.

The convicted murderer was reported missing days after Alice disappeared.

Over 300 police officers have been involved in the search.
