Man Arrested After Eight-Hour Siege

An eight-hour siege in Caerphilly has ended peacefully, Gwent Police have reported.

The siege began at about 15:45 on Thursday when police were called to a property in Buxton Court on Lansbury Park. It is understood a man, aged in his 30s and who lived at the property, was reported to be throwing items out of the building.

Trained negotiators were dispatched to the scene because the occupant was threatening to harm himself.

Police cut power to around 60 homes in the area until the stand-off ended at about 23:30.

The man was subsequently arrested for a public order offence.
