South Downs National Park Seeks Dark Sky Reserve

A campaign has been launched seeking a dark skies special status for South Downs National Park.

The campaign hopes to reduce light pollution over the 617 sq mile park, and have it named as a Dark Sky Reserve, an award granted by the International Dark-Sky Association.

It is claimed that reducing light pollution at the park would not only increase stargazing opportunities but would benefit the park's wildlife.

Prince William Invited To Visit China

Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, has been invited to visit China at the start of 2015, according to the BBC.

According to the report the Chinese government has extended an invite to the Prince and his wife, the Duchess of Cambridge.

A formal announcement is expected to be made soon.

Llewelyn-Bowen Addresses Criticism Over Christmas Fair

TV presenter and designer Lawrence Llewelyn-Bowen has said it is "time for sleeves to be rolled up", after a Christmas attraction he helped set up has been forced to close.

It is understood a number of complaints have been lodged about the Magical Journey park near Sutton Coldfield, with customers criticising the entry fee – entry for a child cost up to £22.50.

An NHS doctor who was allegedly held captive by her family in Bangladesh is due to arrive home in the UK later. The parents of Dr Humayra Abedin, a 33-year-old trainee GP, were ordered to give her back her passport, after intervention by the courts and the British Foreign Office.

The mother of Moors murder victim Keith Bennett has given an interview telling of her shock at receiving a letter from his killer, Ian Brady. Winnie Bennett, 72, told Sky News that the letter was a shock. She said: "He knows a lot more than what he is saying.

Pilots set sights on sky marshal agreement
The row over 'sky marshals' on British passenger flights intensified today as UK pilots' representatives met with Transport Secretary Alistair Darling to voice their concerns. The British Airline Pilots Association (Balpa) claim that the use of covert armed air marshals is a threat to passenger safety.
