Part Of M25 Closed Following Fatal Accident

One person has died in an accident involving several vehicles on the M25.

Part of the motorway is currently closed in both directions.

Three others have been taken to hospital following the accident which occurred at 1.50am on Tuesday, according to Essex Police.

Inspector Dick Thomas, of Essex Police, said: "At this time we have one confirmed fatality and a number of people who are trapped in their vehicles.

"There is debris across both sides of the M25 and the motorway will be closed for the foreseeable future while we deal with this collision and begin our investigations to establish what has happened.

"If it is at all possible motorists are advised to avoid the area and find alternative routes. Nothing will be moving around this portion of the M25 for some considerable time, and the morning rush hour is likely to be affected."

Four Injured And M25 Closed By Overturned Lorry
A crash has closed the M25 in both directions, police have reported. Four people have been injured after a lorry overturned on the central reservation between junctions 23 and 25, near Potters Bar, Hertfordshire. Two people had to be cut free by firefighters - one from the cab of the lorry and the other from under a barrier.

Road Chaos Follows M8 Fatality
There’s traffic chaos in the north today as a fatal accident involving eight vehicles has closed the M8 motorway. The road has been closed in both directions in West Lothian, causing massive tailbacks. The pile-up, between junctions 3 and 3a near Livingston, originated westbound at about 6.10am, although both sides of the carriageway are affected.

One Dead As Crane Falls Onto M25
It has been reported that a man has died after a crane fell from a work site onto the M25 in Buckinghamshire. It is thought that the victim may have fallen from the crane, he was reported dead at the scene, according to the BBC.

Pedestrian Killed On M25
The death of a pedestrian has closed a section of the M25 in Kent. It has been reported the man was hit by a lorry at around 03:30 and was pronounced dead at the scene. The BBC have reported that the motorway is closed clockwise between junctions three and four and is likely to remain shut until 12:00.

Weather warnings issued following snow
The Met Office has issued severe weather warnings for parts of England and Scotland following snow overnight. Warnings are in place in the East coast of England, central and southern London, the Midlands and the Grampian region in Scotland. An average of 2cm of snow fell in London, Surrey, Sussex and Kent overnight.
