Sky To Offer Exclusive Live Coverage Of The Open
Sky Sports has announced it will offer live coverage of The Open following a new five year partnership with The R&A.
Sky Sports will extend and enhance coverage of The Open, including live coverage of all four days' play in their entirety across TV, online, mobile and tablet devices, allowing customers to watch wherever they are.
Barney Francis, Sky Sports Managing Director, said: "The Open is the world’s preeminent golf championship and we are committed to taking coverage of the event to new levels. We offer something for every sports fan and this exciting agreement for The Open means our customers can now enjoy all four Majors live. Sky Sports has a passion for golf that has spanned two decades, offering unrivalled commitment, airtime and promotion as well as year-round innovative coverage. We look forward to working with The R&A to entertain and engage new and existing golf fans through our multi-platform coverage and also at the grassroots level via Sky Academy."
The new rights agreement also offers Sky Sports viewers exclusively live coverage of The Walker Cup in 2019 at Royal Liverpool.

Sky News wins Channel 5 news contract
Sky News has won the contract to supply news to Channel 5, making it the first independent terrestrial broadcaster to break from ITN. The deal will see Sky News provide the channel's lunchtime and evening bulletins for five years. Sky News Sunrise has already been simulcast each weekday on Five at 6am to 6.30am, and at 7am to 7.

No change in rate of inflation
Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation has remained steady at 1.6% last month, according to the latest figures from the Office of National Statistics (ONS). The ONS said that transport costs and petrol and diesel prices had fallen in January, which contrasted with small rises recorded last year.

The BBC and Sky Sports have been jointly awarded the live rights to Formula 1 between 2012 and 2018. Just last month it was reported that, with programming costing a huge £1 per viewer, the BBC might be forced to drop its Formula One (F1) motor racing coverage.
