Police Search Field In Blackpool In 2007 Disappearance Case

Police investigating the 2007 disappearance of 15-year-old Paige Chivers are conducting a search on an area of land in Blackpool.

The teenager was last seen in Blackpool during the August 2007 bank holiday weekend.

Lancashire Police have confirmed they are searching a field off Faraday Way, Bispham, following new information.

The site of the police search is expected to be closed for a "number of days".

Two men are due to appear in court in April charged with the murder of Ms Chivers.

60-year-old Robert Ewing, from Bispham, is charged with murdering the teenager. A charge he has denied.

45-year-old Gareth Dewhurst, of Duncan Avenue, Blackpool, is charged with a serious sexual offence, assisting an offender in disposing of the teenager's body and perverting the course of justice.

They will both stand trial at Preston Crown Court on 14 April.
