Onlookers Described As 'Appalling' For Encouraging Man To Jump From Building

West Mercia Police have condemned onlookers that encouraged a man to jump from a building in Telford, Shropshire.

Police were called to reports of a man standing on the roof of a building at around 13:10 on Saturday.

They claim that as officers tried to talk to the man – who was "clearly in need of support and assistance" – down from the building, a number of people on the street were found to be filming the incident while shouting "jump".

Police have described the conduct of those onlookers as "pretty appalling".

The man is believed to have fallen from the building and was pronounced dead at about 15:40.
