Abandoned Baby Found In Amusement Arcade Toilets

Workers at a amusement arcade in Southport have found an abandoned newborn baby girl.

Staff called police after the baby was found inside the disable toilets of Silcock's Amusement Arcade on Neville Street, at about 19:00 on Thursday. Staff have named the baby girl April and she is now in the care of Ormskirk Hospital.

Police have said that they are concerned for the health of the mother and have appealed for her to contact them, insisting that she is not in trouble.

Det Insp Mike Dalton, said: "Our primary concern is for the health of the girl's mother. She is not in any trouble.

"I would urge April's mother to urgently come forward or at least seek treatment, as she could suffer medical complications, which are potentially very dangerous."

A 24-hour phone line has been set up by the hospital in order for the mother to make contact.
