75-Year-Old Man Dies In Lake District Mountain Fall

A 75-year-old man has died in a 330ft fall on a mountain in the Lake District.

Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team said that the man suffered fatal injuries in a fall from Striding Edge, Helvellyn, on Monday afternoon.

The rescue team said that the man was "properly equipped and experienced" and that his death was a tragic accident.

Tractor 'Driven' By Dog Causes Delay On Motorway

A dog "taking control of a tractor" has reportedly caused severe delays on part of the M74 motorway.

It is understood that farmer Tom Hamilton's sheepdog Don, had leaned on the controls of a utility vehicle, causing it to travel out onto the road at junction 13 at Abington, South Lanarkshire.

Police recovered the vehicle, and the dog, from the central reservation.

Police Chase Ends In Collision

Four people are being treated in hospital following a collision in Greater Manchester, during a police chase.

Greater Manchester Police were chasing a stolen Land Rover, stolen this morning in Ashton-in-Makerfield.

The Land Rover collided with a Mercedes on Warrington Road, before hitting a lamppost and a wall.

Two men have been arrested, said a police spokesman.

British Man Dies In Dubai Police Custody
A British man has died in police custody in Dubai. Lee Bradley Brown, 39, from east London, died on Tuesday after he was taken to a Dubai police station where he was allegedly assaulted and put into a cell. It has been reported that Mr Brown, was arrested over a row at the luxury hotel Burj Al Arab hotel.

Man Arrested Over Kent Doctor's Murder
A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a doctor in Kent. Consultant paediatrician Dr Victoria Anyetei, 54, was found in her car in the driveway of her home in Dartford on August 14. She had been stabbed to death. Kent Police said that the man was arrested on suspicion of murder at an address in Dartford.

Man Arrested After Police Shoot "Aggressive" Dog
Police in Birmingham have arrested a man after armed police shot dead an "aggressive" dog. According to police the dog was shot over concerns for "public safety" after Richmond Road in Bearwood was sealed off at around 16:00 when two "pit bull-type" dogs were reported to be loose. The second dog was captured by police.

Pensioner Attacked By Police Dog Dies
A 73-year-old woman has died after being attacked by a police dog as her home was being searched in Middlesborough. Irene Collins was bitten by the dog last Wednesday and passed away in James Cook University Hospital over the weekend. The police dog has been withdrawn from operational policing activities.

Man Arrested For 2002 Murder Of Becky Godden
Police investigating the disappearance of Becky Godden on December 2002, have arrested a 51-year-old man on suspicion of murder. Ms Godden was aged 20 when she disappeared in Swindon on 27 December. Her remains were found in 2011 on farmland in Gloucestershire.
