Police Search For Men Who Attacked Woman Trying To Stop Fight

Police in Walsall have appealed for help in tracing a group of men wanted in connection with an attack on a woman as she tried to intervene in a fight.

A 20-year-old woman suffered two fractures to her jaw when she was punched from behind as she tried to stop a large group of men from fighting. The incident happened on Hatherton Road in Walsall in the early hours o Friday 27 March.

In CCTV footage of the incident the woman is seen trying to separate the men, when an unidentified male comes up behind her and punches her in the face.

The woman needed two metal plates inserted into her jaw as a result of her injuries.

DC Sukhdev Singh from Walsall’s violent crime team, said: "This was a nasty and unprovoked attack on a young women on a night out, who was trying to stop a fight between a group of men.

"I am anxious to trace the five men captured on CCTV walking away following the assault and if anyone recognises them, they should call police on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."

The man who hit the girl, is described as white, aged 20-30, with dark hair and wearing dark coloured clothing.
