Shooting Incident At House In Berkshire

A man has been shot in Berkshire as he opened his front door.

It is understood that around 6pm on Sunday, two men knocked on the door of the property in Swancote Green, Easthampstead.

The victim, who is said to be in his 30s, opened the door and was shot by one of the men.

The suspects then fled the scene in the direction of Lyn Crescent.

The man was taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading where he is receiving treatment for his injuries. They are not thought to be life-threatening.

The two offenders are described as white, aged between 30 and 40, of average height. One is thought to have brown hair and the other blond.

Detective Chief Inspector Bhupinder Rai said: "While this is a shocking incident for local people, at this stage we do not believe it was a random attack.

"This type of crime is extremely rare. We have extra officers on duty in the area to provide reassurance and also form part of the investigation team."
