Man Rescued From House Fire

A man has been rescued from a house fire in Blaenau Ffestiniog, North Wales.

At around 2.43am in Monday morning, North Wales Fire and Rescue Service were called to a property on High Street in the area following reports of a fire.

The female occupant of the house was alerted to the blaze by a smoke detector and was able to make her way out of the house. She was treated at the scene. A man was located from the second floor attic of the property and rescued by firefighters. He was transferred to hospital.

His condition is unknown.

The North Wales Fire and Rescue Service has said the fire is now under control and some of its crew remain at the scene. An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.

Heroic Tyne Firemen Honoured
Two Tyne and Wear firefighters are to be recognised for their bravery at a special ceremony today. Andrew Nelson and Allan Richardson will be presented with the Chief Fire Officer's Commendations for brave and meritorious conduct after saving a man's life. The men took part in a dramatic rescue in the early hours of 4 February.

Suspicious Glasgow Car Fires
Detectives in Glasgow's East End are investigating a spate of vehicle fire attacks in the city yesterday. Shortly after 3.30am police were called to a report of a vehicle fire in Ashvale Crescent, Glasgow. Upon arrival police were advised by Strathclyde Fire Service that four vehicles had been damaged by fire.

Chief Fire Officer Resigns Over Child Porn Arrest
A top fire officer for the West Midlands Fire Service has resigned after he was arrested on suspicion of making indecent images of children. West Midlands Police arrested Frank Sheehan, 55, yesterday at his home in Sutton Coldfield.

Two Rescued From House Fire
Two women have been rescued from a house fire in Caernarfon. At around 4.30am on Wednesday, North Wales Fire and Rescue Service was called to the scene at North Penrallt, Caernarfon. The women, aged 27 and 65, were alerted to the fire by a smoke alarm.
