Two Rescued From House Fire

Two women have been rescued from a house fire in Caernarfon.

At around 4.30am on Wednesday, North Wales Fire and Rescue Service was called to the scene at North Penrallt, Caernarfon.

The women, aged 27 and 65, were alerted to the fire by a smoke alarm. They were rescued from the first floor of the property by fire crews before being transferred to hospital.

Geraint Hughes, North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, said: "The occupants were extremely fortunate that the smoke alarm alerted them to the fire. Fire control operators were able to provide advice and reassurance on the phone whilst firefighters attended and located the occupants.

"The incident demonstrates how important it is to ensure you have a working smoke alarm in your property – it could mean the difference between life and death."

An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.

No further details are available at present.
