Queen To Attend Women's Institute Centenary Meeting

Members of the Women's Institute (WI) will be joined by the Queen at the centenary annual meeting in London.

The meeting will take place at the Royal Albert Hall later today 4 June.

The Queen became a WI member in 1943 and will attend the event with the Princess Royal and Countess of Wessex.

The monarch is to receive the institutions commemorative baton.

The WI was introduced in 1915 to regenerate rural communities and encourage woman to become more involved in food production during World War One.

Public Name New Neighbourhoods In Olympic Park
Five new residential areas that will be built on the future Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park have been named following a public competition. Almost 2,000 people submitted their suggestions to the Olympic Park Legacy Company, inspired by factors such as the future design for the area, its history or the Games themselves.

Moving Trident Subs 'Difficult But Not Impossible'
A study looking at if and how to move Trident nuclear submarines out of an independent Scotland has found that it would be "very difficult but not impossible". Relocating the submarines would also be cheaper than previously thought, the report by the Royal United Services Institute (Rusi) has found.

UK sees 20% increase in multiple births over 10 years
Mothers are having 20% more multiple births than they were a decade ago, according to figures released today by the Office for National Statistics (ONS). Statistics have revealed that in 2002, the multiple birth rate was 15 per 1,000 women giving birth, compared with 12.5 in 1992.

Queen Attends Cabinet Meeting At Number 10
The Queen has become the first monarch since 1781 to attend a cabinet meeting in Downing Street. Prime Minister David Cameron greeted her at Number 10, and she sat around the Cabinet table as discussions took place about Government's business.
