Police Hunt Man Over 'Audacious And Calculated Assault' At Family Function
Merseyside Police have appealed for witnesses after a man was left critically injured in an attack on Sunday 07 June.
It is understood that the 35-year-old victim was attacked while attending a family function at Our Lady of Sorrows, on Pirrie Road, Walton. Police said that a man walked into the function room, stabbed the victim, and ran off.
The victim is currently in a critical but stable condition in hospital.
Detective Inspector Ian Warlow, said: "I would urge anyone who may be able to help us with our inquiries to come forward. The investigation is in its early stages and we are working to establish a motive for the attack. This was an audacious and calculated assault carried out during a family celebration, which resulted in a 35-year-old man suffering a serious injury."
Crime Scene Investigators are currently carrying out forensic examinations at the scene and house-to-house inquiries are being carried out alongside visits to local shops in the area.
Anyone who may have information which could help the police with their inquiries is asked to contact detectives at St Anne Street police station on 0151 777 4065, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Man Arrested Over Kent Doctor's Murder
A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a doctor in Kent. Consultant paediatrician Dr Victoria Anyetei, 54, was found in her car in the driveway of her home in Dartford on August 14. She had been stabbed to death. Kent Police said that the man was arrested on suspicion of murder at an address in Dartford.

Man Arrested For 2002 Murder Of Becky Godden
Police investigating the disappearance of Becky Godden on December 2002, have arrested a 51-year-old man on suspicion of murder. Ms Godden was aged 20 when she disappeared in Swindon on 27 December. Her remains were found in 2011 on farmland in Gloucestershire.

Man Arrested Over Sexual Assault In Somerset
Police investigating a sexual assault in Somerset, during which a mother and child were tied up and held at knifepoint, have arrested a 59-year-old man. Police arrested the man on suspicion of aggravated burglary and sexual assault, in connection with the incident in Sydenham, Bridgewater on 21 January.

Investigation Launched Into Hotel Body Find
A murder investigation has been launched following the discovery of a woman's body in a Hull hotel room. Police said they were called to the Ibis hotel on Osborne Street at 13:00 on Sunday, where they discovered the body of a woman. She is yet t be identified.
