Police Given More Time To Question Walsall Terrorism Suspects
Police have been given more time to question three people arrested in Walsall on suspicion of Syria-related terrorism acts.
Detectives from the West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) appeared before London's Westminster Magistrates Court via video link to submit their request for a warrant of further detention.
One woman and two men were arrested at 6am on Tuesday 9 June at their home addresses. The two men are aged 21 and 27, and the woman is aged 21.
The five-day extension means that detectives can now hold the three until Tuesday 16 June.
Police are keen to stress that while the arrests were pre-planned and intelligence led, there was no imminent threat to public safety.
Searches at addresses in Walsall continue.
A number of items have been removed for forensic examination.

Man Arrested On Terrorism Offences
A man has been arrested in Luton on suspicion of fundraising and inciting terrorism overseas, it has been reported. The Metropolitan Police said the 35-year-old has been taken into custody in London. Searches are now being carried out at three properties; two are in east London and the third is in Luton.

Two Arrested At Heathrow In Terrorism Offences
Police have arrested a man and woman at Heathrow Airport on suspicion of Syria-related terrorism offences. It is understood that a 20-year-old man and 19-year-old woman were arrested at about 22:30 on Tuesday night after they arrived in the UK on a flight from Istanbul, Turkey.
