Appeal For Witnesses Following Serious Road Accident In Dudley

Police in Dudley have appealed for witnesses to a serious road accident on Saturday.

A man aged in his 40s is in a critical condition in hospital after suffering serious head injuries in a collision on Oakham Road at around 15:00.

Police said that they believe the man was getting into his parked green Peugeot 206 when it was hit by a red Volkswagen Polo.

It is understood that members of the public helped the man until paramedics arrived at the scene.

PC Dave Hand, from the force’s Collision Investigation Unit, said: "We are trying to establish the circumstances of the collision and would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the crash and who has not yet spoken to us.

"Oakham Road is a busy thoroughfare and I am sure there would have been other road users in the vicinity at the time who can assist our investigation."

The driver of the Polo was uninjured and has been interviewed by police.

Witnesses are asked to call the Collision Investigation Unit on 101.
