Search For Overboard Fisherman Suspended

The search for a man who reportedly fell overboard from a fishing boat has been suspended.

The coastguard responded to reports of a man overboard near Girdleness Lighthouse, south east of Aberdeen at about 02:00.

Coastguard rescue teams from Aberdeen and Stonehaven launched a large-scale search operation assisted by two lifeboats and a helicopter.

The search was stopped at 10:00 this morning.

Military Mine Washed Ashore On Welsh Beach

The public has been asked to stay away from a Carmarthenshire beach after a military mine washed ashore.

The beach has been evacuated while an Army Bomb Disposal team investigate the device.

Police have advised people to avoid the area until further notice.

Manchester Road To Remain Closed For At Least 10 Days

A busy road into Manchester City Centre is to remain closed after a 15ft wide hole appeared on Friday.

Manchester City Council has said that the road is expected to remain closed, in both directions, do at least ten days.

It is believed that heavy rainfall has caused the erosion of water pipes beneath the road service, which gave way and the road surface collapsed.

Search on for attacker who raped teenage girl
Police are searching for a man who raped a 13-year-old girl in Greater Manchester. The teenager was attacked as she walked home from the Texaco garage on Bury Road, in Bamford, Rochdale. She spotted a man as she turned down Half Acre Road who shouted at her to stop. He then followed her and pushed her down an alley where he raped her.

Reward Offered In 2010 Murder Of 16-Year-Old
A reward of £20,000 has been offered for information leading to a conviction for the 2010 murder of 16-year-old Samuel Adelagun in Plaistow. Police have renewed their appeal on the murder of the teenager and the attempted murder of his 15-year-old friend on Saturday, 23 October 2010.

Call For Drivers To Tune In To Road Safety
A national campaign launched today by the charity Brake at the start of Road Safety Week calls on drivers to tune in to road safety, to prevent appalling crashes caused by multi-tasking at the wheel.

PM To Host Internet Safety Summit
The Prime Minister will host a key summit at Downing Street where he will welcome the progress made by internet service providers, leading search engines and police agencies to better protect children from harmful material online and block child abuse and other illegal content but will warn that there is still more to do.

GMP Officer Charged With Rape
A Greater Manchester Police officer has been arrested on suspicion of raping a 26-year-old woman while on duty. It has been revealed that 37-year-old Stuart Jenkins, of Holcombe Brook Road, Bury, was arrested in May and is due to appear in court on October 31.
