Doorman Stabbed In Neck In Liverpool

A doorman at a bar in Liverpool has been stabbed, it has been reported.

The incident happened at around 10pm on Saturday, 22 August.

It is understood the doorman refused to allow a group of men to enter the Modo bar at Concert Square in the city earlier in the evening. It is then thought the offender then returned at a later time and assaulted the victim.

He was stabbed in the neck in what police have described as a "vicious assault".

The doorman has been taken to Royal Liverpool University Hospital for treatment.

Detective Inspector Lee Wilkinson, Merseyside Police, said: "This was a vicious assault on the doorman. Medical staff who are treating him have said that he is extremely lucky and this could have been a lot worse."

The offender is described as white, 5ft 11in (1.80m) tall, in his early 20s with a heavy build and short brown hair. At the time, he was wearing dark tracksuit bottoms, a navy t-shirt and a hoodie.

Jessica Ennis-Hill Secures World Championship Title

Jessica Ennis-Hill has been crowned world heptathlon champion as she made her return to the sport.

The 29-year-old only decided to compete in the event, which was held in Beijing, earlier this month. She had only returned to training late last year, following the birth of her first child in July 2014.

Over the six events, she built a steady lead before taking part in the 800m event. She completed her heat in two minutes 10.13 seconds, finishing on a total of 6,669 points – 115 ahead of her nearest opponent, Canada's Brianne Theisen-Eaton.

Homes Evacuated Following Landslide

A landslide in Rhondda Cynon Taff, South Wales, has caused the evacuation of 11 homes.

The incident happened just before 6.10pm on Sunday.

Jennie Griffiths, Head Of South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, tweeted that 11 private residences had to be evacuated when a landslide occurred on Heol Y Beiliau Llantrisant.

Pontyclun crew attended the scene and reported debris from the landslide was "falling into homes and placing pressure on them."

She added that the properties were evacuated while the area was made secure.

Bus Stop Killer Given 'Life-Long' Sentence

Doorman faces second murder charge
A nightclub doorman due to stand trial for the murder of French student Amelie Delgrange has been charged with a second murder. Levi Bellfield, 37, from West Drayton, west London, will appear before Bow Street Magistrates on Friday charged with the murder of 19-year-old student Marsha McDonnell.

Woman Missing After House Collapse In Cornwall
A 60-year-old woman is missing after a house in Cornwall has collapsed following a landslide caused by torrential overnight rain. Emergency crews were called to Veronica Flats at Sandplace Road, Looe, just before 06:00 on Friday morning. Sniffer dogs have been sent into the house, which has been converted into flats.
