Woman Discovered With Fatal Injuries Named As Concert Pianist

A woman discovered with fatal injuries in Manchester has been named by police.

The body of 38-year-old Natalia Strelle was found with serious head injuries on Sunday, 30 August in Newton Heath.

Emergency services attended the address on Culcheth Lane at 12:45am after reports that a woman had been assaulted.

Paramedics attempted to revive Ms Strelle. However, she died a short time later.

A post-mortem revealed Ms Strelle died from head and neck injuries.

A 48-year-old man was arrested on Monday, 31 August on suspicion of murder.

He remains in police custody for questioning.

Ms Strelle was a Norwegian concert pianist of Russian origin.

She had performed across Europe and at Carnegie Hall in New York.

Det Supt Phil Reade said: "This is a tragic incident in which a talented young lady has lost her life.

"Natalia's family, many of whom live outside the UK, are understandably beside themselves at their loss and we are doing everything we can at this time to support them."

Police are appealing for witnesses.

The 24-year-old fly half, who also plays for Bath, was arrested by Devon and Cornwall Police in Newquay on Sunday night. Man On Trial For Murder Of Ex-Girlfriend And Unborn Child
The trial has opened of a man accused of a fatal "brutal and sustained" attack on his pregnant ex-girlfriend. 20-year-old Eystna Blunnie was found with fatal head injuries near her home in Howard Way, Harlow, Essex, on 27 June last year. Compensation For Stuart Lubbock's Father
The father of Stuart Lubbock, who was found dead in a swimming pool in the former home of entertainer Michael Barrymore, has been awarded £6,800 in criminal injuries compensation over the death. Terry Lubbock will also receive £1,300 for funeral costs.

Teens Remanded Over Man's Death
Three teenagers have been remanded in custody charged with the murder of a man who died after confronting a group of youths outside his home in Cheshire. It is believed that Garry Newlove, 47, was attacked after he confronted youths outside his home in Station Road North in Warrington on Friday night.
