Man Stable Following House Explosion

A man is in a stable condition in hospital following an explosion at a house in Camelford, Cornwall.

The explosion happened at around 11.30pm on Tuesday, 1 September, in the Trecalgo View area.

One property was badly damaged in the blast.

A 68-year-old man was in the property at the time. He has been taken to Royal Cornwall Hospital for treatment. Police have said remains in the intensive care unit, but is in a stable condition.

It is understood the external walls of the house were blown out in the explosion, while the internal walls have been left severely weakened, leaving the top floor and roof "substantially unsupported".

Nearby houses and cars were also damaged in the blast and by flying debris, but no other injuries have been reported.

An investigation into the cause of the explosion is continuing.
