Police Appeal For Information After Shots Fired In Birmingham

Police have appealed for information following reports of shots being fired in the Hamstead area of Birmingham.

Police were called just after 20:30 on Thursday 22 October following reports that a man had fired a hand gun towards three men in Old Walsall Road.

Eyewitnesses told officers that the man then got into a green car which drove off in the direction of the Scott Arms pub.

Nobody was injured in the incident.

Detectives have launched an investigation into what happened and have been carrying out searches at the scene today. Forensic officers have also been in attendance to search for clues.

Detective Inspector Paul Joyce, from Force CID, said: "This happened relatively early in the evening and we know there would have been people in the area who have not yet contacted us to tell us what they saw.

"Fortunately nobody was injured but any gun crime is completely unacceptable and we are working around the clock to bring those responsible to justice.

"As the investigation continues, officers will be carrying out high visibility patrols in the area this weekend. We know that local residents will have concerns about what happened and we would encourage them to talk with our local officers on patrol or get in touch with them by calling 101."

Anyone with information should contact Detective Inspector Paul Joyce from Force CID on 101 or contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
