Police Appeal Following Distraction Burglary In Oxfordshire

Police are appealing for witnesses following a distraction burglary in Oxfordshire.

The incident occurred in Valentia Close, Bletchingdon, on 26 October.

A man called to a house at approximately 7pm stating there was a problem with the water, asking the occupant to locate her stopcock and run the taps.

Once the suspect left the property, the elderly victim realised money had been taken from her purse and cupboard.

The offender is described as white, around 5ft 10ins and slim. He was wearing a grey T-shirt and a navy zip up jacket, along with a baseball cap with a light coloured panel on the front.

Det Sgt Shay Harper said: "We are appealing to anyone who may have seen this man in the area at this time or has any information about this incident to please get in contact via the Thames Valley Police 24-hour enquiry line 101."

Five retired police officers have been arrested as part of an investigation into the murder of a Cardiff prostitute 17 years ago, South Wales police have confirmed. Twenty-year-old Lynette White was found murdered in a flat in the Butetown area of Cardiff on Valentine’s Day, 1988.

Man Arrested Over Suspected Arson Attacks In Oxfordshire
Police have arrested a 47-year-old man on suspicion of arson following three fires in Oxfordshire. The offices of South Oxfordshire District Council, a funeral parlour and a thatched cottage were all damaged in fires that started within ten minutes of each other in the early hours of Thursday morning.

East London Murder Appeal
Detectives have appealed for information about the murder of a woman in Manor Park. Aliza Ahmed Mirza, 18, a student from Ilford, died on Saturday 3 April. Police had been called to reports of a collapsed female. It is believed she was stabbed while in the Forest View Road area. Miss Mirza was taken to hospital but later pronounced dead.

MoJ Reveal Drone Used In Prison Smuggle Attempt
The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has revealed that a drone was used to try and smuggle a package into the grounds of HMP Bedford. An MoJ spokesperson said that the aircraft was "quickly intercepted by vigilant staff" on 06 March.
