Three Leicester players charged over sex assault
Three players with the Premiership club Leicester City have been charged with sexual aggression and breaking and entering following an alleged incident at a hotel in Spain.
Scotland international Paul Dickov, Northern Ireland international Keith Gillespie, and Frank Sinclair have been told that they will face trial. The ruling was made after a judge heard two days of evidence in a Cartagena courtroom.
All three strenuously deny the charges.
Today's ruling relates to allegations made by three German women that they had been sexually assaulted at their hotel in La Manga. The City squad had flown out to the La Manga complex training camp on Sunday. The incident is thought to have taken place on Sunday night.
The three men were among a group of six Foxes players who were arrested yesterday and brought to the court today.
The players appearing before the court were: Matt Elliott, Paul Dickov, Keith Gillespie, Frank Sinclair, James Scowcroft and Lilian Nalis. The group spent the night in police custody last night.
James Scowcroft was released on bail of 20,000 euro and told to report to a Spanish consulate in the UK twice a month. Matt Elliott and Lilian Nalis were both released without charge.
A club spokesperson said last night that the players deny the allegations and "will vigorously contest all charges and allegations made against them".
Three other players who were arrested - Greece international Nikos Dabizas, Danny Coyne and Steffen Freund - have all been released and are returning to the UK.
The Foxes' Chief Executive, Tim Davies, and manager Micky Adams have stayed on in Spain with the remaining players.
A statement released by the club last night said: "… the club is treating this situation with the utmost seriousness and will be launching its own full and thorough internal investigation.
"Our immediate next step is to bring home all our players as soon as is practically possible and get everyone back on the training ground ahead of our Premiership trip to Birmingham in nine day's time."
The remainder of the Leicester City squad flew home on Thursday evening.

The club's captain Paul Dickov and players Frank Sinclair and Keith Gillespie had been charged with 'sexual aggression', which carries a maximum sentence of up to 14 years in prison.

Leicester boss vows to stay on as trio stay in jail
Leicester City boss Mickey Adams has vowed to stay on at the club as three of his players spend their fifth day in a Spanish jail. In a statement released on the club's website today, Mr Adams acknowledged that it had been a "difficult time" for everyone connected with the club.
