Bullion heist accused remanded in custody

Seven men charged with attempting to steal more than £70 million of cash and gold bullion from Heathrow Airport on Monday have appeared at South Western Magistrates court today.

The seven men are charged with conspiracy to rob and with possession of a handgun with intent to commit robbery. There were no bail applications made for the seven men and they were remanded into custody.

The group will appear before Kingston Crown Court on May 27.

The accused have been named as: John Davis (20), from Holmlea Road in Datchet, Berkshire; Chris Smith (28), of Sheepcote Road in Eton Wick, Berkshire; Alan Larmont (30), of Blenheim Road in Langley, Berkshire; James Fox (30), of Elliott Rise, Ascot, Berkshire; Stephen Nolan (23), of Old Mill Place, Wraysbury, Berkshire; Derek Sheehan (32), of Ashcroft Square, Hammersmith, west London; and Anthony Charles, 34, of no fixed address.

Mr Nolan also faces separate charges of kidnap, unlawfully taking a 17.5-ton lorry and dangerous driving.

An unnamed eighth man has been bailed to return in July.

More than 100 officers, assisted by armed colleagues, foiled an attempted heist at 10am on Monday as they attempted to steal cash and gold bullion from a warehouse in Bedfont Road, Heathrow.

Shooting Incident At House In Berkshire
A man has been shot in Berkshire as he opened his front door. It is understood that around 6pm on Sunday, two men knocked on the door of the property in Swancote Green, Easthampstead. The victim, who is said to be in his 30s, opened the door and was shot by one of the men. The suspects then fled the scene in the direction of Lyn Crescent.

British Transport Police Name Berkshire Train Hit Victims
British Transport Police (BTP) have said while they have not yet formally identified two people hit by a train in Berkshire on Tuesday, they "strongly believe" the victims to be Rubina Khan (46) and her 10-year-old son, Amaar Khan. It is believed the mother and son are the two people killed by a train in Slough at about 09:45 on Tuesday morning.

Two Dead In Berkshire Train Incident
Two people have died in "suspicious circumstances" in Slough, according to the police in Berkshire. It is understood police were called to a train station at about 09:45 this morning, following reports two people had been hit by a train. Police say they are working to identify the two victims and an investigation into their deaths is underway.

Explosion At Berkshire Trading Estate "Like Earthquake'
A fire broke out earlier today, following an explosion at a trading estate in Slough, Berkshire. Sky News reported that the force of the blast was so big that some witnesses nearby thought it was an earthquake.

Driver Arrested After Car Crashes Into Train At Level Crossing
An investigation has been launched into an incident in which a car collided with a train in Berkshire. British Transport Police have confirmed a car crashed into a train at a level crossing at Datchet in Berkshire at about 06:05 this morning. It is understood that the 67-year-old female driver was not injured in the collision.
