Teenager arrested under Terrorism Act

Police have arrested a 19-year-old man in Birmingham this morning under the Terrorism Act.

The man who has not been named is being held for questioning after he was arrested in the Selly Oak area of Birmingham in the early hours of Thursday morning.

According to the BBC, police conducting further enquiries in the same area of Birmingham have arrested two other men in connection with alleged immigration offences.

Eight men charged with terrorism-related offences appeared at Bow Street Magistrates Court sitting at Belmarsh yesterday. It is not thought that these arrests are connected to the arrest today.

Over 100 police officers have carried out a series of raids concerning child sexual exploitation offences in Oxford. Eight men were arrested following the raids at 6am this morning 2 June. Police are investigating approximately 60 offences in connection with the operation relating to female victims in Oxford between 1999 and 2007.

Man Detained At Birmingham Airport By Anti-Terror Police
A man has been arrested at Birmingham Airport on suspicion of engaging in terrorism in Syria. Officers from the West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit detained the 37-year-old man at 15:00 on Thursday. He had arrived on a flight from Istanbul.
